Legion Sequel Preorder + Storybundle Available Now

A couple months ago my novella The Emperor’s Soul was available as part of a fantasy-themed DRM-free ebook bundle from Storybundle. A lot of readers enjoyed getting the book that way, so now I’m repeating the experiment with my thriller novella Legion, available for the next three weeks along with eight other books in the Cosmic SF StoryBundle.

Later this year Subterranean Press will be releasing a limited edition hardcover of Legion‘s sequel, Legion: Skin Deep, which you can preorder here and read a preview of here. If you haven’t read the original Legion, this new bundle is a great way to whet your appetite and get ready for the sequel.

Legion is a fast-paced, witty, and supremely fun thriller with a psychological bent.

Stephen Leeds is perfectly sane. It’s his hallucinations who are mad.

A genius of unrivaled aptitude, Stephen can learn any new skill, vocation, or art in a matter of hours. However, to contain all of this, his mind creates hallucinatory people—Stephen calls them aspects—to hold and manifest the information. Wherever he goes, he is joined by a team of imaginary experts to give advice, interpretation, and explanation. He uses them to solve problems . . . for a price.

His brain is getting a little crowded, however, and the aspects have a tendency of taking on lives of their own. When a company hires him to recover stolen property—a camera that can allegedly take pictures of the past—Stephen finds himself in an adventure crossing oceans and fighting terrorists. What he discovers may upend the foundation of three major world religions—and, perhaps, give him a vital clue into the true nature of his aspects.

Anne McCaffrey and Jody Lynn Nye. Frank Herbert. Jay Lake and Ken Scholes. Michael A. Stackpole. Kristine Kathryn Rusch. Mike Resnick. Kevin J. Anderson and Doug Beason. Peter J. Wacks. This is a great group of authors to be included with. You can name the price you want to pay for the bundle. Anything above $3 gets you six of the books, and anything above $12 gets you all nine books, including Legion.

I do have to note that while this StoryBundle is available worldwide, my novella Legion is not included if you’re in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, or another of the countries where Gollancz has the distribution rights. If you’re in those countries you can still buy the bundle without Legion, and the threshold price to get the remaining eight books is reduced to $11 instead of $12. So while my novella won’t be included, you still get some great books. (Legion can be purchased separately from your usual ebook vendors—I have a list of buy links here. If you’re in one of the other UK-related publishing territories such as Malta or South Africa, use the Ireland or New Zealand links—those will also work in your country.)

You can pick the split for what percentage of your StoryBundle purchase price goes to the authors and what percentage goes to StoryBundle. (For comparison, other ebook distributors such as Amazon take 30%.) You can also choose to have a portion of your StoryBundle purchase go to charity. The charity for this particular bundle is the Clayton Memorial Medical Fund, the preferred charity chosen by Jay Lake before he passed away on June 1st after a long and hard-fought battle with cancer. (For those who are interested in donating to the charity without getting the bundle, there’s info on that here.) Buy the DRM-free ebook bundle here.

Warning! This is a Magic: The Gathering-related post, so those of you not interested in my random hobby need not read further. (Well, not much further, since I ended up putting a writing update next. For those wondering, I’m currently doing the last revisions on Firefight—sequel to Steelheart—and working on the sequel to The Rithmatist. I’m still planning to start Stormlight Three, Stones Unhallowed, late summer. Follow along on the progress bars!)
