Nerdrage87 Tue Dec 17
@BrandSanderson It would be pretty cool if instead you linked to something I didn’t have to download software I don’t want in order to read.

Rajani_Isa Tue Dec 17
@Nerdrage87 @BrandSanderson It’s Apple’s award, their store and you’re surprised their want to launch iTunes? Blaming the wrong guy you are

Rajani_Isa Tue Dec 17
@Nerdrage87 @BrandSanderson In fact, double checking, Apple only has it set up to show individual products, not any other pages, in browsers

Nerdrage87 Tue Dec 17
@Rajani_Isa @BrandSanderson Still. #FuckApple

BrandSanderson Tue Dec 17
@Nerdrage87 @Rajani_Isa All Tor ebooks are DRM-free, I believe. Dragonmount sells a platform-independent version. link

BrandSanderson Tue Dec 17
I want a new audiobook, and I have audible credits to burn. Which should I go for first: His Majesty’s Dragon or Gail Carriger’s Soulless?

mizzelle Tue Dec 17
@BrandSanderson Napoleonic ships and warfare and dragons or Victorian paranormal and steampunk? What do you feel like?

BrandSanderson Tue Dec 17
@mizzelle Both. Which is why I’m having trouble deciding… 🙂

tara_oshea Tue Dec 17
@BrandSanderson @mizzelle I vote Naomi Novik. But then, I dislike Carriger, whereas Naomi’s slept on my sofa 🙂 So I’m way biased.

BrandSanderson Tue Dec 17
@tara_oshea @mizzelle Lol.

GunnerMcGrath Tue Dec 17
@BrandSanderson Nope, Theft of Swords by @author_sullivan great book and extremely well done audio.

BrandSanderson Tue Dec 17
@GunnerMcGrath @author_sullivan It’s on my list, but he gave me a print copy I want to read.

author_sullivan Tue Dec 17
@BrandSanderson @GunnerMcGrath I agree w/Chris, the audio for Theft of Swords elevates the experience. You can pass on the print copy 😉

BrandSanderson Tue Dec 17
@author_sullivan @GunnerMcGrath Well, I suppose that would keep the print copy nice and pristine—except I think my assistant grabbed it.

BrandSanderson Tue Dec 17
@author_sullivan @GunnerMcGrath At least, he’s been talking about your books the last few days.

gavinmostyoung Tue Dec 17
@BrandSanderson that moment where the first thing I thought to recommend was one of your own books. . .

BrandSanderson Tue Dec 17
@gavinmostyoung Lol.

gavinmostyoung Tue Dec 17
@BrandSanderson Holy crap you responded you just made my year. In response to the original question how about Unbroken by Laura

BrandSanderson Tue Dec 17
@gavinmostyoung My wife read and liked Unbroken. I’ll put it on the list of books to look into. Thanks for the suggestion!

CricketManBand Tue Dec 17
@BrandSanderson Did you know that @audible_com has Steelheart on sale for $3.99? That’s crazy good!

BrandSanderson Tue Dec 17
@CricketManBand @audible_com It is a bit crazy good, to be honest. Steelheart on audio has been a fantastic experience.

BrandSanderson Tue Dec 17
All Tor ebooks are DRM-free, I believe. Dragonmount sells platform-independent versions: link

BrandSanderson Tue Dec 17
Hum. That last one was posted in reply to someone, but I think my software messed things up. Sorry if it’s confusing.

BrandSanderson Tue Dec 17
Final vote on “What should Brandon download from @audible_com next” is: His Majesty’s Dragon: 33 Soulless: 25. So I’ll download it tonight.

BrandSanderson Tue Dec 17
This is fitting, as Naomi defeated me for the Campbell, & therefore counts as a (mini) nemesis alongside the greater Evil that is @scalzi.

Razakan Tue Dec 17
@BrandSanderson As a newer follower, I have been curious about the significance of the Mistborn llama.

BrandSanderson Tue Dec 17
@Razakan My old writing group was called the Mistborn Llamas, a blend of a book I was working on and one @bmoorebooks was writing.

BrandSanderson Wed Dec 18
Oh hey, both Infinity Blade novellas are 99¢ for the holiday. link

BrandSanderson Wed Dec 18
Every time I finish writing a chapter of FIREFIGHT, my assistant updates the progress bar in the upper-right corner: link

BrandSanderson Wed Dec 18
Some humorous “Stormlight Park” fanart. link

BrandSanderson Thu Dec 19
We’ve again reached that most famous (& messy) of cosmere holidays: Koloss Head-Munching Day. Thank you all for the kind wishes.

BrandSanderson Thu Dec 19
The press Tor is using cannot physically manufacture a book longer than 1088 pages. Good thing that’s the exact length of Words of Radiance.

bruhsam Thu Dec 19
@BrandSanderson How many signatures is that? 34? 68?

BrandSanderson Thu Dec 19
@bruhsam Not sure. Peter might know. [The answer is 68.] Part of the problem is the end-pages, which apparently take pockets in the printer. [Yes, though it’s more of a bindery issue than a press issue. A different bindery could have made a bigger book, for a higher cost.]

scalzi Thu Dec 19
@BrandSanderson You did that on purpose, didn’t you.

BrandSanderson Thu Dec 19
@scalzi Just trying to set a benchmark for Shadow War of the Night Dragons. You know, so you have a goal to strive toward.

BrandSanderson Thu Dec 19
Update on my audiobook foray: I’m enjoying His Majesty’s Dragon immensely. Narrator is excellent. (But I’m not sold on the dragon’s voice.)

Wyattstombstone Thu Dec 19
@BrandSanderson Are you perhaps unfairly influenced by Cumberbatch’s recent portrayal of Smaug?

BrandSanderson Thu Dec 19
@Wyattstombstone Probably more by my own imagining of Anne McCaffrey dragons for all those years.

BrandSanderson Fri Dec 20
Tor.com’s most recent reread post for THE WAY OF KINGS hits chapter 49, where Kaladin starts training bridgemen. link

BrandSanderson Fri Dec 20
The deadline for BYU students to apply to get into my creative writing class is Monday December 23rd. link

BrandSanderson Sat Dec 21
Salt Lake City! I will be signing at the Sugarhouse Barnes & Noble at 3:00 p.m. today. Details: link

BrandSanderson Sat Dec 21
On my way to Salt Lake. Will be signing at the Sugarhouse Barnes and Noble from 3 til about 6. Last chance to get signed books as presents!

BrandSanderson Mon Dec 23
For you last-minute shoppers wanting signed books, my store has gift certificates and the Sugarhouse B&N has books. link

BrandSanderson Mon Dec 23
There are also four Writing Excuses episodes we put up this month that I haven’t linked to yet. link

quella Mon Dec 23
@BrandSanderson enjoying MistBorne Trilogy with Daughter. Wondering age range for your other books fantasy books, pre-teen readers?

BrandSanderson Mon Dec 23
@quella It really depends on the teen. Steelheart and Rithmatist are intended to be teen books, and Mistborn has the most crossover.

quella Mon Dec 23
@BrandSanderson one last question. Would a girl liking fantasy enjoy Steel and Rith? Will both be a series of books in the future?

BrandSanderson Mon Dec 23
@quella Both are series, and both also include prominent female characters. However, those have only one viewpoint character, who is male.

BrandSanderson Mon Dec 23
@quella Steelheart is more action/adventure while Rithmatist is more school life/magic.

BrandSanderson Mon Dec 23
@quella I should have mentioned The Emperor’s Soul earlier, however. Female protagonist, and though short, is one of my best works.

quella Mon Dec 23
@BrandSanderson more money going from my pocket to yours! Keep up the great writing that so many enjoy.

BrandSanderson Mon Dec 23
@quella Thanks!

BrandSanderson Mon Dec 23
@quella Warbreaker would be the next I’d suggest, though it has slightly more sexual content. (Not a ton, but more than Mistborn.)

quella Mon Dec 23
@BrandSanderson thoughts on The Way of Kings series for said adult content? First book of Mistborne did not seem too adult in content

BrandSanderson Mon Dec 23
@quella The Way of Kings is about equal to Mistborn in terms of violence, but has less adult content otherwise.

BrandSanderson Mon Dec 23
@quella Kings is my best book, but though the content is not adult ratings-wise, it is my most “adult” novel concept-wise.

BrandSanderson Mon Dec 23
@quella It uses non-linear storytelling, a lot of viewpoints, challenging worldbuilding, and a sometimes dense narrative.

BrandSanderson Mon Dec 23
@quella You can browse that one for free on my website & see what you think. Elantris would be fine for a Teen, but is less action-oriented.

BrandSanderson Mon Dec 23
I finished His Majesty’s Dragon and really liked it. I plan to post a review on @audible_com here pretty soon.

icedhockey Mon Dec 23
@BrandSanderson as a professional driver, I consume all my books via audio, audible is excellent as are the adaptations of your books.

BrandSanderson Mon Dec 23
@icedhockey Good to hear. I haven’t done audiobooks a lot before this, but really enjoyed the process with this one.

icedhockey Mon Dec 23
@BrandSanderson a good narrator vastly enhances a book experience for me, Novik’s novels had a good one IIRC.

icedhockey Mon Dec 23
@BrandSanderson It is my distinct hope that the Stormlight Archive can maintain one narrator for the duration of the series.

BrandSanderson Mon Dec 23
@icedhockey Michael Kramer, from my limited experience with audiobooks, is my personal favorite. So I hope so too.

BrandSanderson Mon Dec 23
What should I listen to next: Daughter of Smoke & Bone or Amulet of Samarkand? (If you’ve read both, your vote counts double.) @audible_com

Killianjess Mon Dec 23
@BrandSanderson @audible_com You should continue with the Dragon series!

BrandSanderson Mon Dec 23
@Killianjess @audible_com Eventually. I like doing surveys where I read the first book of a series so I know that author’s writing.

ComradeHarrison Mon Dec 23
@BrandSanderson When submitting manuscripts (to tor) do you recommend having the story fully written or just their 3 chaps plus synopsis?

BrandSanderson Mon Dec 23
@ComradeHarrison The latter.

BrandSanderson Mon Dec 23
@ComradeHarrison Oh, sorry. I didn’t read closely enough. Do finish the book, but then send the sample chapters once you are done.

BrandSanderson Mon Dec 23
The votes are for Amulet by a landslide. (Though Daughter had its enthusiasts.) I’ve downloaded Bartimaeus, and will report back!

BrandSanderson Mon Dec 23
Here’s what happens when you give the WORDS OF RADIANCE proofread to a five-year-old. video

BrandSanderson Thu Dec 26
Flying to Costa Rica for a friend’s wedding. Simpy Books in Salt Lake airport (Gate C6) has signed books! 3 Steelhunt codes in Steelhearts.

BrandSanderson Thu Dec 26
Reading for my flight is @dragonmount’s novel. And maybe some more of Bartemaeus via audiobook.

TheJarvin_IronM Thu Dec 26
This line made it all: “I’ve seen SteelHeart bleed, And i will see him bleed again” #SteelHeart by @BrandSanderson YOU ROCK !!!!

BrandSanderson Thu Dec 26
@Marvin_IronMan Thanks!

BrandSanderson Thu Dec 26
LAX! I managed to find 3 copies of Steelheart in the Hudson News in Terminal 6. Signed them and put Steelhunt codes in two copies.

croseknows Thu Dec 26
@BrandSanderson I checked the LAX bookstore earlier this morning. Just missed ya!

BrandSanderson Thu Dec 26
@croseknows Dang! So close… 🙂

BrandSanderson Thu Dec 26
The writing of Bartemaeus is great—quite funny & exciting. But man, the apprentice character is annoying. I don’t enjoy his scenes as much.

BrandSanderson Sun Dec 29
A MEMORY OF LIGHT signed & lettered leatherbound limited edition is up for auction by Worldbuilders: link

BrandSanderson Mon Dec 30
Here is Michael Whelan’s Shallan endpaper for WORDS OF RADIANCE! link There’s also a link at the bottom to wallpapers.

For Mistborn fans, this Survivorist hymn is pretty sweet. Props to the writer and performer. link

BrandSanderson Tue Dec 31
Stopped by Atlanta on the way home from Costa Rica. Signed Steelheart, Rithmatist in the New York Times store, E Gates.

luiscerdas Tue Dec 31
@BrandSanderson oh, no! Was hoping to host you and your family while in Costa Rica. 🙁 next time 🙂

BrandSanderson Tue Dec 31
@luiscerdas Sorry! I kept looking for a time I could tweet a meet up, and I just never found one. 🙁

BrandSanderson Tue Dec 31
Atlanta airport Simply Books at the A Gates also has Rithmatist & Steelheart, signed. So if you go through Atlanta, visit the A or E gates.

MaryRobinette Tue Dec 31
@BrandSanderson I have just realized that you’re flying on New Year’s Eve. I’m so sorry.

BrandSanderson Tue Dec 31
@MaryRobinette Yeah. (Hoping for no Mary-go-round…)
