Where to Buy Signed Hardcovers

In case you couldn't make it to my booksignings during the Wheel of Time: THE GATHERING STORM tour (which is also the WARBREAKER and ALCATRAZ 3 tour) in the fall of 2009, here is a list of bookstores that I visited with information on how to pick up a signed copy from them. Most of these stores should have signed copies through the holidays at least. (Some will have them longer. See below.) You can find signed copies of hardcovers that have been out for more than one year in my store here.

As always, my first hope is that you will support your local booksellers. But I do like to leave behind signed copies, and I know any of these booksellers would be happy to send you copies in the mail. Some have quite a variety of my books on hand for you.

I often do events with Sam Weller's, and they have an excellent staff who are familiar with my books and with shipping them to my readers. Chances are good that they can get you what you need—they generally have hardcovers of all my books. They probably have signed copies of Warbreaker and Alcatraz 3 left in stock, and ship world-wide for very reasonable rates.

BYU Bookstore has close to 100 signed and numbered copies of THE GATHERING STORM from my release party there. They are willing to ship them out, and I'm pretty sure they have signed copies of my other books too. If you want a numbered copy, this is probably the best place to look.

The staff are not as likely to be aware of what you're looking for as the staff at Sam Weller's. (BYU Bookstore is a large place with a lot of turnover in student workers.) So you'll want to be specific. If possible, it would be good to talk to Anita. However, I know they'd be excited to send you a copy, and have an experienced shipping department.

Call and get transferred to the Trade Books department. Ask for Anita, and if you can't get ahold of her, explain that you know that Brandon Sanderson signed and numbered a lot of copies of THE GATHERING STORM, and that you'd like one. They should be able to help you—but as I said, you'll want to be very clear about what you want.

This lovely independent bookseller has been a big supporter of my books. I know for a fact that they not only have a hundred signed copies of THE GATHERING STORM, but copies of all three Mistborn books in hardcover, some copies of Elantris in hardcover, and a scattering of Alcatraz books (including the third one.) All are signed by me.

They also have two or three ARCs of my books they might sell. All of their books are signed by me, and they'd love a call from you to purchase THE GATHERING STORM (which they are selling at a competitive discount) or other books of mine. They will ship worldwide. This is a smaller store with very enthusiastic owners who are very familiar with me and my work, so it would be an excellent place to stock up on those signed copies you need.

This store is very on-the-ball, and they had me sign a large stock of not only The Gathering Storm, but my other books. They have a good stock of the first Alcatraz hardcover, as well as all three Mistborn books and ELANTRIS.

The books are NOT signed by Harriet. (I stayed late, from about 11–12 p.m., to sign the books.) The manager told me in person that they would ship them anywhere, and they're selling THE GATHERING STORM at 30% off. (Plus 10% more off if you're a Barnes & Noble member.) They have signed copies of many of my titles, including paperbacks of the Mistborn books and Elantris, as well as Warbreaker Hardcovers.

Uncle Hugo's is a great independent bookseller. I stopped in on October 30th and signed a large amount of stock, including the Alcatraz books—if you want ALCATRAZ 3 this is one of your best bets. They also have all my paperbacks, many of which are signed.

Joseph-Beth is one of my favorite independent bookstores, and they've treated me well for years. Their SF/F buyer, Brian Delambre, has exceedingly good taste. I left a good number of signed books there on November 10th, and they'd be happy to ship.

At last count, they have around 30 copies of THE GATHERING STORM, 5 hardcover WARBREAKER, 8 paperback/5 hardcover ELANTRIS, 3 hardcover MISTBORN, 4 hardcover WELL OF ASCENSION, 4 hardcover HERO OF AGES, 40 paperbacks in the Mistborn trilogy, 8 paperback ALCATRAZ VERSUS THE EVIL LIBRARIANS, and 7 hardcover ALCATRAZ VERSUS THE KNIGHTS OF CRYSTALLIA. If you're stocking up for Christmas presents, this is a great place to buy.

During the tour I'm also doing drop-by signings at whatever bookstores I happen to pass. A lot of these are in airports—which by nature have a very limited stock that disappears within a few days, so I won't post them here. I do however mention them in Twitter and Facebook updates. If you happen to fly through an airport right after I'm there, be sure to hit up the bookstores.
